The care and advice offered by both doctors and nurses is excellent. A huge let down is the reception staff who don't seem to understand the sometimes sensitive nature of a visit to the doctors or nurse. The patient is asked to identify the nature of their visit within hearing of the next patient, and if it is not on the list of ailments, you are then asked by reception to explain what it is. This is not acceptable. The first point of contact is with reception staff that in my experience are far from helpful, and offer no assistance when making an appointment. Both my wife and I work shifts, so trying to get any help with an appointment is very difficult. Why is there a system of having to go to the surgery at 8.00am just to book an appointment, having to return an hour later to see the doctor.

I am very happy with this surgery and think the doctors are fantastic and the majority of receptionists and very pleasant and friendly. My only complaint is on the odd occasion that I am in the waiting room, the statistics appear on the communication board regarding the number of appointments that people have missed and not had the courtesy to cancel. However, having just spent 27 minutes trying to get through to cancel an appointment, I think this could be the reason that so many are missed. I am off work today but if I was at work, I wouldn't have been able to spend that amount of time on the phone just for a cancellation and think this whole process should be reviewed.

The web booking service for appointments is great but signing up for the service is a long winded pain. My main frustration is that each family member in our household has to visit the surgery to request a login and password - why can't this be requested to be sent to other members of my family? If the login and password were posted out to the person indidividually there is no greater risk of it falling into the worng hands than if they collect it in person (which they dont have time do hence the need to book online), after all banks etc send ourt personal information by post. If requesting a login and password was easier, i think the take up would be much greater - saving the surgery time and reducing frustration for patients when trying to book appointments.
